Bart Wirtz claims Edison Jazzism Prize 2012
With his album iDreamer Bart was already a finalist but came out a winner after online public votes last month. Today he will receive his award at the Edison Jazz/World Gala in Eindhoven. The CD, recorded in NY, has a unique American line up: Nicholas Payton, the world-famous trumpeter from New Orleans, Xavier Davis on piano, bass player Richie Goods and Kendrick Scott, one of New York’s most wanted drummers, who also plays in Herbie Hancock’s band. Sunday night 2 December there will be a short item on this years Edison Jazzism prize winner in Soul&Jazz (NTR) on Dutch public channel 2. And guess what, recorded at Amsterdam Winds, Friso will also make a small appearance. Congrats Bart.
